I'd also like to co-organize it with a medical school so we can really get in-hospital providers (both residents and physicians/midwives) updated on their vaginal breech skills. We advertised heavily to every hospital and most OB groups in a 200 mile radius, but had disappointing turnout from that sector nevertheless. (Not entirely surprised that that happened, but still...you'd think more people would want to brush up on their vaginal breech skills, since 3% of women at term will carry breech!)

A lot of the art of breech birth is knowing when to throw in the towel before things get too ugly. There is less tolerance for dysfunctional labor patterns with a breech baby than there is with a head-down baby.Rixahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07908864785513937876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20642800.post-60166234800486347082011-07-26T18:32:03.910-04:002011-07-26T18:32:03.910-04:00Oh, I forgot to add that Dr. Odent says something ...Oh, I forgot to add that Dr. Odent says something similar about breeches.....that if the labor begins spontaneously and proceeds pretty smoothly, all is usually well. He says he starts to worry if labor stops and starts a lot or if progress stops for a significant amount of time. At that point, he believes a cesarean usually results in better outcomes.

To him it's not about every breech should be vaginal, it's about judicious vaginal breeches...and figuring out which ones are which.Well-Rounded Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04129621631406155340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20642800.post-38406882787541984942011-07-26T18:28:36.207-04:002011-07-26T18:28:36.207-04:00I hope they will repeat this conference at other p...I hope they will repeat this conference at other places. I so agree, if only the hospital care providers could work hand in hand with home care providers and SUPPORT women with love and respect. That would be wonderful.Enjoy Birthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13227246774801636777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20642800.post-76341597346515407312011-07-22T11:17:07.509-04:002011-07-22T11:17:07.509-04:00What were Dr. O'Neill's opinions on the sa...What were Dr. O'Neill's opinions on the safety/ risks of out-of-hospital breech birth?Sarah N.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20642800.post-32522926578861924922011-07-22T08:18:04.463-04:002011-07-22T08:18:04.463-04:00This sounds like a wonderful workshop. This sounds like a wonderful workshop.Oliviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01828516083662339236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20642800.post-40853271995885393142011-07-22T04:51:09.617-04:002011-07-22T04:51:09.617-04:00I loved reading the last description of the baby&#...I loved reading the last description of the baby's decent.
