I sent my dissertation committee members the final manuscript today! Besides some paperwork, there isn't much left for me to do until the defense, which is scheduled for December 2nd.
If you're interested in reading the dissertation, it will be available as a PDF download through my university after the defense is completed. I'll keep you updated.
We're hanging out on the couch drinking orange juice, eating crackers, and watching movies. I hope this keeps Zari occupied until Eric gets home from work.
WHOOO-HOOO. That must feel awesome (except for the being sick part).
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I hope you have some serious celebrationing planned!
Congratulations! Hopefully Mel and I can join the doctoral ranks in 3 years!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great accomplishment! I would love to read through it. Send me a link. :)
ReplyDeleteYou rock. You really do. Wow!! Enjoyed some well deserved rest and recuperation.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You're almost at the end of a long road.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what your next big project will be? I do remember you mentioned something about fighting for mother-friendly hospitals.
Yay for you! Good job, Rixa. I can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you're sick, though. Ugh.
congratulatins comrade! what a feeling! enjoy the loss of the monkey!
ReplyDeleteyay! congrats rixa! i defintely can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteso now that this baby is almost born, any big projects before the belly bean makes his or her debut? :)
Well, I wouldn't say the baby is almost born...I'm just over 3 months along. I'd like to start working on getting our hospital to move towards Baby-Friendly certification, although there's no way that would be anywhere near done come late April/early May.
ReplyDeleteOther projects: paint our living and dining rooms; find a publisher who's interested in my dissertation and turn it into a book; design and build a set of raised bed gardens in the sunny, gravelly corner of our back yard; finish a room in our basement into a family room; inquire about the possibility of teaching a class here or there at my husband's university (they usually don't hire adjuncts but maybe I could work something out).
Congratulations! It's that time of year...I attended a defense this morning, and know how much hard work it takes to get there. Thoughts of continued strength and perserverance for you, and continued mentorship and cooperation for your committee as all the pieces fall into place these final weeks.
ReplyDeletetake a deep breath! what a great accomplishment...here's to publication. that would be great!
ReplyDeletegreat news, rixa! congrats. cheers to a speedy pass with no edits! i'm really looking forward to reading your second baby in pdf form :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Rixa!!

ReplyDeleteAha! I am a bit too literal minded at times.
ReplyDeletecongratulations!

ReplyDeleteCongrats! Good luck. Because I'm just barely free of that whole thing, do you expect your committee to have a lot of changes for you?
