  16. I've been reading, gosh, I suppose since Zari was a baby. I found you through MDC as you are a celebrity in the natural normal birthing parenting world. I love that you write in a style that feels like a conversation with a good gal pal. And on a more personal side, you've lived in Iowa City-I once lived in Kalona, have family there still, so that is my "connection" or tangibility to you to make you "sit in my livingroom and converse" with me.

  26. I've been reading your blog since about June of July of this year. I stumbled on your blog when I was looking for eco-conscious mom blogs for a blog tour I was working on for a particular book. I couldn't help but subscribe to your blog because my husband and I were just starting to try getting pregnant, and I knew I wanted a home birth. I found out I was pregnant in August, and we're expecting our first child, a boy, on April 20th! Since my husband wasn't comfortable with a home birth, we compromised and hired the midwives I liked and agreed that I can labor at home as long as possible with the midwives, then we'll all go to the hospital when it's just about time to deliver. The midwives will be at the hospital and will still do the after birth care with the newborn. It's not my dream birth, but it was a good compromise.

All that to say, I love your blog and love reading about midwives and how they help people all around the world.

  27. I have been reading your blog for about 2 years and my midwife's student midwife loves your blog and told me I should look you up.

  44. I discovered your blog in the spring of 2008, while paralyzed with undiagnosed PPD and PTSD after a very traumatic c-section. Every day, I obsessively researched VBAC on my laptop while nursing my son. Your blog was one that I really liked, and I remember reading through all your archives in a matter of days, and I have been following you ever since. I'm currently typing this on my lap top while nursing my second son...who was born just two months ago in a very wonderful VBAC. I have really appreciated your thoughts and writing (I'm almost done reading your dissertation), as well as all the wonderful information and links you have posted.

  48. I think I have been reading since planning my 1st home birth two years ago! I'm not sure I stumbled across the blog. Probably all the homebirth searches I did brought it up. As a mom expecting my third (2nd homebirth) I feel a kinship and love reading your thoughts, birthing stories and personal stories. Keep up the good work. I just ordered a baby scale sling for my midwife! Can't wait to give it to her.

  49. I've been reading your blog since Zari was a baby. I found it while searching for breech birth information. My first baby was born breech vaginally (almost 12 years ago), and I really want that to become a normal option again here in Canada!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I can't remember-before you were expecting your 3rd...hmmm. And of course I can't remember how I found you either--I tend to find good blogs in spurts, one leads to another and the connections all get fuzzy!
But I still owe you a piece on birth here and i've never offered to write for anyone before so take that as a testament to my fandom!

  80. Hi Rixa Ann! I found your blog through Brittany's I think (since we are cousins) and have been checking in for ahhh...maybe a couple of years or so?

We are due with #3 around the same time--I am late Jan./early Feb. I would love to try out a sling this time around!

  81. I only recently started reading your blog and found it through my one and only Canadian blogger-friend!
I'd love that gorgeous sling for a very good friend who is expecting her first baby this summer - in the hopes that she'll let me use it when she's done ;-)

  82. I've been reading your blog for 2 years. I was starting to do research on pregnancy and birth in the U.S. and followed a link from another blog- Sagefemme, I think?

  83. Hi! I think I have been reading your blog for about a year--I know I read your dissertation in March of this year, so I have been reading the blog for at least that long! I am pretty sure I first came here from the blogroll at First the Egg.

My son is just a month old, and I would love to add to my collection of baby carriers (so far I only have 1!)

  85. It's been about a year, maybe a bit more. I can't remember exactly where I found the link to your blog, but I have been doing a lot of birth-blog-hopping since my son was born in September 2009. It wasn't a particularly pleasant experience because I was an idiot and went along with what I was told to do. Ugh. I am determined that it will not happen again.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have been following and loving your blog for about a year and a half now. I have no idea how I found it - but I know I saw the videos of your son's birth before finding your blog while I was pregnant with my babe. Anyway - hope I win!

  87. I've been reading your blog for a little over 3 years, since I was pregnant with my daughter, Byrdie. It's the first blog I read everyday and I also used your blog links to find more great writers, like "At your Cervix". I also linked the giveaway on my facebook page and I am a fan of Stand and Deliver on facebook. Merry Christmas, Rixa and Everybody!

Keep up the GREAT WORK and I will keep reading and sharing your Blog with friends! I LOVE your Slings!

  94. Hi, I came to your blog about a 1 1/2 years ago when I was pregnant with my 4th baby. I think that I was brought here by At Your Cervix.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I'm also following you on Facebook.

  96. A year... I think. I discovered your blog through another blog that I used to follow (I cannot for the life of me remember which one!) I used to just pop in every now and then, but I've followed religiously for the last couple of months (mainly because my DH and I are unimpressed with local OBs/hospitals and are not particularly fond of the local midwives so we're planning a UC for our next, due in July.). It is very refreshing, and empowering, to follow the blog of a woman who is not only the same religion as myself, but who also has all the same thoughts on birth and breastfeeding that I get ridiculed for day after day. Thank you so much for blogging!

    Entry #2 - I follow your FB :)
