We're busy getting to know New Brunswick, so I haven't been on the computer much. Here are a few pictures...
For those of you wanting to see how to fit 3 carseats in the back of a VW Golf.
We live right next to a cemetery (complete with Eric's ancestors!), so it's turned into a favorite place to go for walks.
The kids shriek "spit bubbles! spit bubbles!" whenever Inga does this
I can't stop kissing her chubby cheeks
Our first night in Moncton we made fiddlehead ferns (blanch for 1 minute in boiling water, then sautee in olive oil) and salmon en papillotte (made with what we had on hand: caramelized onions, mushrooms, carrots & sour cream). Zari keeps asking for more ferns.
Today we ate lobster from the Bay of Fundy and the kids ran around the house playing with the empty claws. I've never seen such huge lobsters before. Several of the live ones were close to 10 pounds! But the woman at the shop said, "We don't say they're big until they weigh at least 15 pounds." The rest of the lobster will turn into this pasta recipe tomorrow. Mmmmm.
I'm so jealous! I love the Maritimes. I spent a few weeks in Newfoundland and PEI a few years ago and would love to go back. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like such fun, wish I liked to travel! I know what you mean about kissing Inga, my Lizziebear gets a double helping of kisses all day- she is just so sweet I can't resist! Inga is very plump! I love it! Take care!
ReplyDeleteOh, it sounds like you are having such a wonderful time! I love the pic of the car seats. Who needs a minivan?
ReplyDeleteMmmmm. I loooove fiddleheads. My uncle always catches me snatching them out of his yard in the summer. Delicious with a little bit of lemon. ; )
ReplyDeleteThe kids look like they actually have more room than in our 4Runner! What a great time of year to go out east!
ReplyDeleteThey don't look squished at all! That's impressive!
ReplyDeleteAnd dinner looks amazing and I'm sure that pasta is going to be just as great! It's making me hungry... :-)
...and they're right there within arm's reach to hand them stuff or reach back and caress a chubby leg. ; )
ReplyDeleteHave you gotten your seats checked by a CPST? I would highly recommend it. It's a pretty big safety no-no to take off the handle on the infant seat. A CPST will tell you that the car seat must be replaced, as it is no longer safe. (http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/1178781/can-you-remove-the-handle)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your older DD's straps are twisted and rather loose... Straps must be untwisted and pulled tightly enough that you cannot pinch any slack horizontally at her shoulders (this is true for all car seats, RF and FF, and for all sizes of kids).
Both your older DD and your DS would be safer if their seats were tethered. Do you have tether anchors behind their seats or up on the ceiling of the car?
As a fellow homebirth mama, I have been enjoying your blog and the pictures of your beautiful kids. I don't want to step on your toes, as you are clearly a devoted and loving mama. But, as a CPST myself, I can't see a pic of unsafe car seats and not comment...
