My mom, as usual, outdid herself. My sister joked that "this was mom's party, to which I was invited." My mom planned the decorations, food, and music. She cooked half of the food and had friends help make the rest. She even wrote some of the arrangements that her string quartet and violin students played.
The evening's menu:
Finger foods- Avocado & goat cheese crostini
- Double tomato bruschetta
- Filipino lumpia with sweet chili sauce
- Pesto ravioli on skewers
- Edamame
- Chicken satay with peanut sauce
- Baguettes and cheeses
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with Gorgonzola
- Endives stuffed with hummus and balela
- Swedish meatballs
- Lemon/lime infused sparkling water
- Raspberry/strawberry infused sparkling lemonade
- Mango-lime cheesecake
- Blueberry-lemon cheesecake
- Sachertorte
Those pictures are gorgeous and Zari is. So. Beautiful!! What a pretty reception and getting those jars?! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteYour mom is the best! She was seriously my favorite YW leader! If you want a to have a great party, she is the one to be in charge of it: classy yet so fun!
ReplyDeletegood gravy! looks like a spread from Martha Stewart! How wonderful!!! <3
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks beautiful. I esp. love the apothecary jar centerpieces.
ReplyDeleteYou need to enlarge and frame that picture of Zari. That is a really beautiful shot. The flowers are a perfect contrast to her skin and eyes. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously one of the most gorgeous (and delicious) weddings I have ever seen! Oh, that menu just looks divine. (And Zari looks adorable!)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the skills to offer the same to my children some day! What amazing talent your mom has.
If anyone is interested, the total cost for the reception was around $1200. We expected about 150 guests. My mom purchased the table decorations; borrowed tables, chairs, and linens; made about half the food herself and had friends help make the other half (she reimbursed them for the food). I don't know what people spend on weddings nowadays, but I guess it's usually a lot more than this!
ReplyDeleteWe had tons of food left over, and we've been eating it all week. Yum...
you need to post the mango lime cheesecake recipe!! it all sounds wonderful, and everyone and everything was beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI want to be invited to your mom's parties!
