French apartment renovations, Days 456: Au revoir

6,974 steps

Lots of tears this morning as Eric left for a conference. He won't be gone very long at all, but leaving is leaving.

I'm putting renovations on "pause" or at least "slow-motion" since I have too many things to take care of without a 2nd adult around. It's nice to know that my cousin is here, though, in case of any emergencies. I think that is why, 4 years ago, it was so hard on me to be here in France with the kids while Eric was back in the States. I had this horrible constant worry about Something Bad Happening and no one being around. "What if I had a heart attack when I was out running errands and nobody knew and no one was there to pick up the kids?" That sort of thing.

Everyone got to soccer, grocery shopping is done (enough for a few days, I hope), laundry is hung up, the floor is definitely NOT swept, and I'm just going to leave the mess on the table and deal with it tomorrow.

I spent a few hours with friends this afternoon, just chatting. Wow--I have not done that for a very long time! Too long! They have convinced me that I need these weekly friend-dates on Wednesday afternoons while their kids are in art and dance classes. I agree :)
