Belly shot: 23 weeks

23.2 weeks from LMP:

I'm feeling great, although quite stretched out all over. I already feel like I'm running out of room and, obviously, have a ways to go still! I have to sit up very straight otherwise I feel like I can't breathe. I'm feeling tons of movement all over the place, although it's more often in the lower uterus or cervix. I wonder if my placenta is quite high on my fundus, since I feel the least amount of movement there. Or it could be that this baby prefers to be head-up right now.

I've got varisocse veins for the first time. I first noticed them once I arrived at my sister's house after about five days of traveling in the car. They're all over both of my lower legs. Ugh. I don't care so much about the looks (although they are ugly) but they ache and throb at times. I ran out of fish oil a few weeks before we left for Christmas break. I bought more fish oil last week and the varicose veins have been bothering me much less ever since I started taking it again. Coincidence? causality? who knows...

  1. That's funny you say that you're out of room because you hardly even look pregnant! You can tell you're growing though from your last photos. You look really good.

  2. Ouch! I got really bad varicose neins with my pregnancy ... I needed Rx support hose! Keep an eye out for thrombophlebitis early post-partum- I got two clots! Also, Vitamin E helps with blood vessels!

  3. wheat germ is great for veins as well...you might look into it. I just eat a few tbsp on my yogurt each day.

  4. Thanks for the info on wheat germ. It's in the granola that I make, so I get some every day, but I'm not sure how much. I should try sprinkling more on top or adding more to the granola recipe.

  5. I got rid of some newly-formed varicose veins by putting witch hazel on it daily. It is something I usually keep in my medicine cabinet anyway.

  6. Rachel's placenta was in front near the top, and so I felt much less movement at first with her than with the others. It worried me at first, but everything ended up just fine by the end.

    You look great.

  7. that is a beautiful picture of you.

my mom got varicose veins when she was pregnant with my brother (her second child, also the one she gained the most weight with). they never went away, but she does say they don't hurt at all anymore.
