Sad baby, again

Zari is really sick but we can't figure out what is wrong. No outwards symptoms like fever, congestion, vomiting, etc. It started last evening--she became super fussy. Then she was up most of the night crying. The only thing that helped was nursing. So guess what I did all night? Anyway I am sore from staying in one position all night, and tired from being awake. She's been sleeping a lot, nursing a lot, and crying a lot. And she HAS to be held all the time. Well she needs to nurse again. This is not fun for either of us.

  1. Wow, so sorry to hear it. Any idea as to what could be bothering her? Logan did something similar for a day or two but it was clearly from catching her brother's cold.

  2. Teething? My easygoing babe is up all night long wanting nothing but nursing when her teeth are coming through. I know she's a bit young for that, but all kids are different.

  3. You might want to get her ears checked out. Sometimes there's no outward symptoms (like fevers)and a raging ear infection.

  4. Try a warm bath it seemed to calm our babies that would cry for no reason. They had acid reflux problems (supposedly) and would cry for hours at a time. I was convinced that Breezy was going to die she seemed in so much pain.

  5. I think I will get her ears checked today. If I knew her ears were the problem, I could at least offer some specific comfort measures. She did seem very sensitive around her ears this morning.

  6. Rixa,

I'm not sure if I left this on your blog before, but I've learned a great way to help with the pain of ear infections. My oldest son doesn't show outward signs of pain, but he does get sleepy and pale. He was having ear problems, and I made an infusion of garlic and extra-virgin olive oil, and put two drops in his ear several times a day. It helped a lot, and he is doing much better.

I hope she starts feeling better soon, for her sake and yours.

  7. I will do this as soon as I come back from the doc. I've already infused the oil & it's nice and smelly. I am pretty sure it's her ear that's bothering her. Plus I've been seeing a lot of wax/discharge coming out of the sensitive ear. Poor girl.
