How did she fit in there?
This is how Inga used to fit inside of me, more or less. Both she and Dio loved to hang out ROT.
And lots of Inga photos because she's just too cute.

ReplyDeleteThat first picture is a great idea. I remember with both my kids, looking at them at few days old and wondering that they ever were inside me, how they ever fit inside me, and that they came out of me - through my vagina, no less!

I had a question about milk coming in when you're already nursing a toddler. What happens in the transition? Is there a mix of colostrum and regular milk or does the regular milk go away during the colostrum phase and then come back?
You look AMAZING!!! Like your body has bounced back so quickly. Now I just feel bad. 6 months on and I'm still working at it....
ReplyDeleteI just finished watching your birth videos, and I have to say: bravo. I am so impressed with you and your partner's calmness during your pushing, particularly as Inga lost color and you started NRP. She is a beautiful baby and you are a strong, awesome mama.

ReplyDeleteDuring both Dio's and Inga's pregnancies I had a toddler who was nursing. My milk supply dropped dramatically during the 1st trimester and pretty much disappeared during the 2nd. I couldn't even express a drop of milk by midway through pregnancy. Then during the 3rd trimester, colostrum started coming in. The "regular" milk came in at the normal time postpartum both times, with engorgement peaking around days 3-4.
These pictures are so precious, really amazing how they fit, isnt it?
ReplyDeleteI wanted to chime in on the nursing toddlers milk subject: I nursed all through all of my pregnancies, except of course the first pregnancy! It was annoying and did hurt a little, but for me, it was the only way to get the littl one to stop running around long enough for me to rest a bit, and it was a welcome respite.
They seemed to be getting milk, and I did not notice any dwindle in milk supply until late 2nd trimester. My children were old enough to be eating tons of solids and so it was not alarming. Then near the birth, mid to late trimester, I noticed the colostrum, and for a couple of my very vigorous nursers, they even got a change in stool, not quite the pure yellow, but definitely more breast milkish.
I was surprised to find that engorgement still occured, I thought that would have skipped me by, but no way-- i alwasy got majorly engorged around 3 to 5 days after the births, and was very happy to have a toddler to come "help" drink it. (I think they might have said various things at varying ages of speech development to the effect of wow more milk, or yum or yuck, depending on the child!)
