just a question, but were you not interested in using it? Or you have the information from it that you need and are passing it on.
ReplyDeleteNo, I really like it. It's just that I put everything on my mp3 player and read through all the materials, so I don't need to keep the physical packet any more.
ReplyDeleteI was secretly hoping you'd like it, and was really excited for you when you mentioned you were getting it. lol!
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd known you had this! I just received mine in the mail ($143 from Amazon, ouch!). Glad you enjoyed it/found it helpful (did you use it with your first birth, or just this one?). We just started "Class 1" last night!
ReplyDeleteRixa,
ReplyDeleteI may be interested in it. I am expecting my first at the end of August and have just started exploring my options. The only things I know for sure are that I want a natural birth and that it will likely be at a hospital (the husband's insistence).
Did you find the Hypnobabies helpful during your labor with the pain management? How much time did you spend studying the techniques beforehand? How involved was your husband in the process both beforehand (reading materials, etc) and during?
Do you have any opinions about the differences between Hypnobabies versus Hypnobirth?
Ummm - think that's it! Thanks ahead of time! :)
Bec, it has already sold--sorry!
ReplyDeleteI am currently using it for this pregnancy, but haven't actually used it at a birth yet. I haven't asked my husband to be involved at all, since I prefer to do things myself and to labor alone. Last time around I listened to the Hypnobirthing CD that's included with the book (two different relaxation/visualization scripts, nothing as involved as Hypnobabies) and I really enjoyed it during pregnancy especially for helping me relax & sleep. I listened to the Hypnobirthing CD early on in labor. It was the middle of the night and I was trying to get to sleep and so I put the CD on. I noticed contractions starting up soon after I started listening.
Anyway, I hope other readers who have used Hypnobabies all the way through can answer your questions in more depth!
Bec,
ReplyDeleteI will answer your questions.
Did you find the Hypnobabies helpful during your labor with the pain management?
YES!
How much time did you spend studying the techniques beforehand?
I would listen to a script a day (about 30 minutes and an extra 5 min a day relaxation... I usually listened to my script at night while I fell asleep, so really 5 minutes a day.)
How involved was your husband in the process both beforehand (reading materials, etc) and during?
With the home study DH doesn't have to be that involved. With the live course, there are scripts to read. It is all on CD with the Home Study. Though there are a lot of ways for him to be involved if he wants.
Do you have any opinions about the differences between Hypnobabies versus Hypnobirth?
I have used both. You can read my comparison at www.pregnancybirthbabies.com on the Hypnosis and Childbirth page.
Hey Bec, hope you don't mind me answering as well.
ReplyDeleteDid you find the Hypnobabies helpful during your labor with the pain management?
Absolutely. I felt no pain at all. I felt some manageable discomfort during transition, and i felt a lot of pressure pushing on my pubic bone as he came through the birth canal. I told my doula "i can't do this any more..." and she kind of thought i was joking because I still looked calm and relaxed during the birthing waves.
Pushing felt great and I felt NO ring of fire.
How much time did you spend studying the techniques beforehand?
I started at 20 weeks, so my first go around I only used it at night, and then I'd practice my techniques randomly throughout the day.
About 3 weeks before his birth, I started actively listening to the cds during the day when I found some time, along with practicing the techniques.
It honestly doesn't take much time to listen and practice, and it's great to just relax when you can.
How involved was your husband in the process both beforehand (reading materials, etc) and during?
Well before hand he wasn't that involved, as it was the cds that I listened to.
but it has that great birth partners guide and quick reference manual which has scripts for your birth partner to read to you if you're wanting, during your birthing time.
plus he would do the hand on my shoulder while telling me to relax. which is a cue that he and i sorta of had practiced.
to this day, if i'm hurting or sick.. he randomly still does it, and it works like a charm every time because i willing allow myself to relax.
Do you have any opinions about the differences between Hypnobabies versus Hypnobirth?
I have used both. Hypnobirthing was definitely helpful in the relaxation area. but about a month before my first son was due, i panicked. i felt unprepared when it came to "pain elimination". So i bought Hypnobabies. I didn't get much practice but half of my labor was completely pain free. (24 hour labor)
The second time i used Hypnobabies from the start. =)
I felt like with Hypnobirthing there just wasn't enough attention to detail. The scripts were more guided imagery, where as with Hypnobabies it pretty much gets to the point. Anesthesia! lol!
With Hypnobirthing there was one script I remember where you make your hand go numb, and then with your hand you touch other parts of your body to make them go numb. It just never seemed to work for me.
With Hypnobabies it was more of a "switch" at the back of your neck, that you either flip to "center" or "off" and center makes only the parts of your body from your breasts to your thighs have no "sensations of pain". So you can feel everything else but your birthing waves just feel like pressure. so you can get up and walk around, and frankly.. that was my favorite part! not having to lay still. I was one active mama!
and then switching to off, turns your whole body "off" to those sensations.
hope this wasn't information overload. you can see my baby's birth video from a link on my page if you're interested.
Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's answers! I appreciate you all taking the time to get back to me.
ReplyDeleteI would really like to purchase your Hypnobabies CD. Can you contact me at kdculley@yahoo.com?
ReplyDeleteI did not see an email for you posted. I am a Birth Doula and have a mom that just lost her job so I was hoping to find a set of these for her. She is really interested in the Hypnobirthing and I thought it would be a good thing to have in my loaner library for moms.
kdculley,
