Having a two-week old baby and family visiting was a great way to celebrate Mother's Day. Eric named and blessed Dio at church today, since we finally decided on a middle name (Spencer). I wore yet another of my slings; you've got to coordinate with your outfit, after all! Dio was awake during most of church, so he's been napping soundly this afternoon.
My mom and I played a violin-piano duet during church today. My mom, a Suzuki violin teacher, often "volunteers" us to play when she visits. I'm glad to have someone urging me to play my violin, because it's not something I'd remember to do on my own right now.
We took some pictures of the cousins after church. They have so much fun together. My sister is expecting #4 in October, so we'll have even more cousins soon!
Rixa, your children are so gorgeous. Good job Mama! I love Zari's smile! So cool that you play the violin. I play the viola but not nearly as much as I should.
ReplyDeleteRixa, you never cease to amaze me! Having my babies blessed at 2 months with all the accompanying stress of family visiting and food preparation is often overwhelming to me. And you played the violin at church as well. WOW! I know you don't know me from Adam but the mommy in me wants to say, "don't overdo it right now. You just had a baby!" But then again, maybe I'm just an old wimp and not a young supermom like you! =)
ReplyDeleteBTW I love your slings--I have a Maya wrap, but wish I had one of yours!
I like giving him your Spencer name is perfect. Did you record your recollection of his blessing? I found that was really important to me to be able to refer to later.
ReplyDeleteLove the middle name Spencer. Looks like you guys had a great time, and your sling is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that sling! It is so beautiful! And you have a good lookin' family.
ReplyDeleteCute pictures! You and your mom did a great job and Eric gave a great blessing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous way to celebrate Mother's Day! Zari is so beautiful in that picture with Dio. I'm glad you are doing so well.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day! Love the sling you wore to church, and your kids are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow great! You guys all look wonderful and happy belated mother's day! I guess I will stop saying dont over-do it now...you seem really to be made of different atuff than I was at 2 weeks pp...but thats a good thing
ReplyDeleteGorgeous kids! Love the matchy girls' dresses too :) As always, thanks for sharing...and that sling is beautiful, by the way!

p.s. great middle name choice!
Bonnie--for me, having family over is very relaxing! They do all the cooking, cleaning, and Zari entertainment and I get to sit around and nurse the baby and read books. It's great! My mom left today so now I am really on my own. Well, not totally, because Eric is done teaching now and just has papers to grade this week. So I am not REALLY on my own until mid-August, when school starts up again. I am so thankful to be on an academic schedule right now. Plus people from church will be bringing me meals now that my mom is gone. I am so thankful for all the support I have received; it's made adjusting to a new baby very smooth and enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteJenne, I was writing as fast as I could during the blessing and I got almost everything down. I'm glad I remembered to do that, because I have such a terrible memory otherwise!
Aww, beautiful! You look great, too, Mama!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kids! And beautiful you! Did you seriously just have a baby 2 weeks ago? I hate you! (Not really, but you look really good!)
ReplyDeleteI love the matching cousins' dresses, too! What great memories.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have incentive to play violin. I feel similarly about guitar. If I didn't have some responsibilities where I had to play guitar, I think my skills would definitely lag, because playing would get pushed to the bottom of the priorities list. I really enjoy playing, so I enjoy being compelled to play. :)
Dio Spencer Freeze that is a great name. The pictures are beautiful. I am glad you had such a great Mother's Day.
ReplyDeletePrecious photos! Your family is looking so happy,Rixa. :)
