Wow, you're a real milk machine :) I don't think I could EVER get that much at one session...especially not AFTER nursing! Is the donation to the couple from your church still happening?
The couple came by last week and picked up everything I had in my freezer. The baby should be arriving any time now.
I don't think I could get that much after normal daytime feedings, but I always have extra in the morning. Must be a result of nursing somewhat less frequently at night than during the day.
When I first started expressing, I could only get a teeny bit. I've gradually built up my supply since early January.
While I was nursing Josh, there was a lady who lived near me who had a 4yo son with autism, and they had discovered that breast milk was the very best thing for him. He went through about 40 ounces a day, but his mother wasn't able to nurse him. She asked me to donate, and I worked out a system where I would pump one side dry in the morning and Josh would nurse out of the other side. I was amazed at how much milk I could get out of the one side. Most days I got 8 or 9 ounces, but there were some days I had to quit pumping before I was dry because the bottle wouldn't hold any more milk. There was at least 10 or 11 ounces in there. I was shocked. I haven't tried that since, but the whole supply and demand thing works. It actually took a while for me to wean myself from that morning pumping after I stopped donating milk. Several mornings of being VERY full. :)

ReplyDeleteGood for you, Rixa. That is really great.
Wow, that sure is a lot! Did you use a hand or electric pump?
ReplyDeleteIt was a hand pump. I have an Avent Isis pump, and I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I absolutely love the picture of Zari doing pushups with her tongue out. Very adorable.
