It's a boy!

Not mine though...sorry to tease you.

My youngest sister had her first baby today, a chubby 9 lb 2 oz boy! We were due within a day or so of each other. Of course we both thought I would go long before she would, given my history of early babies and her first-time status. She gave birth with the midwife practice at Mt Auburn Hospital in Cambridge and everything went as she had hoped for--a spontaneous, unmedicated birth with her husband, doula, and midwife present.

I'm so excited for her! Now let's see if my little one can get with the program and find the exit route.

  1. you mean *gasp* that this baby I'm pregnant with may come late??!! Lol ;) my daughter's were born 15 and 16 days before their duedate, and considering how horrible this pregnancy has been (hyperemesis) I was hoping that this baby would follow suit. Ah well, better to be prepared either way since inductions not an option. Congrats to your sister and I am hoping your little one comes in perfect timing :)

  4. You are such a tease! I got so excited! (Not that a new nephew isn't exciting!!)

Alright little one...it's your turn now!

(And I can relate...my sister-in-law and I have been due within a few weeks of each other BOTH times we've been pregnant; I'm currently 37 weeks with # 2)

  6. 3/1/11 is a really cool birthday for your baby---that's probably what she's holding out for. Yay for the new "little" guy!

  7. Congrats on your new nephew! (I keep checking back here to see if you've had your baby, LOL.)

That's where I had my first; their lactation support is AWFUL, so if she needs help have her seek it elsewhere. Hopefully she won't need anything, or she already has all the help she needs!

  11. My husband's youngest sister had a boy on Thursday. Since she is the "baby" its weird that she now has a baby of her own. Are you feeling the same way?

Congratulations on your new nephew! How fun that the cousins will be exactly the same age :-).

  18. Rixa's little sister here,

Thanks for the shout-out Rixa. The birth went incredible and I still can't believe that I did that! I actually delivered at Mt Auburn Hospital (right in Cambridge, MA) with an incredible midwife practice. My husband and I were both floored with how perfect the midwife was with coaching and taking care of me. We also had an incredible nurse who knew exactly how to keep me focused when I REALLY needed it. And I can't say enough wonderful things about my husband and my doula supporting me.

Labor went incredibly fast (I surprised the midwife and nurse with going from a 6 to ready to push in a matter of about an hour). After my chubby baby came out and I had no tears, the nurse commented that I was born to do this.

One of the most surprising things for me was that everyone told me how exhausted I would be after labor and that I should rest rest rest, but honestly I was so hopped up on hormones that I couldn't stop smiling. I felt so good and happy!

    Britt
