I will be one of the 30 speakers at the Trust Birth Conference next March in Redondo Beach, CA. It is sponsored by Carla Hartley, founder and director of the Ancient Art Midwifery Institute. I am so excited to speak!!
I don't have an official program yet, but speakers include Dr. Michel Odent, Dr. John Stevenson (a homebirth physician in Australia), Gail Hart, Dr. Sarah Buckley, Gloria Lemay, Henci Goer, and Sheila Stubbs.
For more information, email carla @ ancientartmidwifery.com.
Ooh, tell more! How did you get involved? I should be able to make it - that's a driveable distance :)
ReplyDeleteI approached Carla about speaking--I've corresponded a little bit with her in the past and included something she wrote here, a while back. You should definitely come! It would be a blast to room together.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, remind me when the times comes. That's not far from where I live, it would be great to meet you in person.
ReplyDeleteOH! I am going to be there, Rixa, and I can't wait! (I think I was like the first person to reserve a room for the conference...lol)

It will be fantastic. A bit expensive though but definitely worth it. Almost all of the "big names" will be there.
ReplyDeleteIt is definately going to be expensive, dh and I are making a trip out of it, we are coming from Maine (driving to WI first to drop the kids with my mama) and we are doing Disneyland for 4 days after (shhh don't tell the kids!) so that adds to it too. I am so excited to go and see/hear all the "big names" speak as well as all of the "small" ones. Can't wait (didn't I already say that? lol)

who is starved for live and in-person birth talk!!
Wow, that's quite the cross-country journey. I'm already anticipating lots of good girl talk, staying up late, pajama parties, good stuff...
ReplyDeleteI'll be speaking there, too! I cannot wait to meet you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am terribly disappointed. So I am going to miss *you* as well! There are going to be so many great people there. *sniff* I was asked to speak too, but have realized that I'm just not comfortable leaving my daughter for that long, and my husband and I cannot afford for him to go as well. :(
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteHow old is your daughter? I am bringing mine (she'll be what...a bit over 1 year old next March) and figured I'd find someone to watch her while I speak if my husband can't come. Perhaps we could watch each others' children during the conference--switch back and forth kind of thing?...I would really like to meet you!
