My zen wall

I finally hung up these silk paintings that I made last spring. They are based on the artwork of Australian artists Chrissy Butler; the originals were commissioned for the Trust Birth Conference. I hung them on the side wall of our bedroom, so they're the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning. The pictures make me feel happy and zen and peaceful. I should have taken pictures of them hanging against a window first, since they are even more colorful with light coming through them. I also made one other silk painting that I gave to Carla Hartley at the end of the conference.

  2. That's another Chrissy Butler painting! I love her book "My Brother Jimi Jazz." If anyone's looking for a great children's book about home birth, I'd recommend that one.

  4. They're gorgeous, and I love Chrissy Butler's work, too.

The blog is very nice. Can't you choose to turn off that search bar at the top? I'm not much of a techie, though.

  5. I hope to have a similar "Zen Wall" with the artwork of Cary York (she has an etsy shop I recommend visiting). There are a couple there that move me so much I have to own them.

  6. Can definitely see Chrissy's influence in those paintings :) When I saw them before reading I thought they were some of hers. One day I'm going to get a chrissy butler portrait of my family painted :D :D :D

  9. Good job! Wow, you write and you're artsy. Ok, I am getting a little green now as I do both too, but not as well as you apparently! argh! I hate that!)

anyway, I guess you could get your own etsy store too.

  10. Well, artsy might be a bit of a stretch...silk painting is ridiculously easy and I copied someone else's drawings, rather than coming up with my own design. Anyway it's a super fun activity because even little kids can do it and it comes out beautifully.
