French apartment renovations, Day 447: The best consulate visit EVER!

We had to renew two passports today, and it was the best experience we've ever had. Usually we have to drive to Marseille (2.5 hrs) with the entire family and spend the whole day driving, waiting in line, waiting in more lines, and then driving home.

But because of Covid, the US Consulate has started offering mobile passport services in Nice once every month or two. We got there exactly at our appointed time, waited in line for exacly 1 minute, and were done in 4 minutes.

I told the man who processed our application, "Can you please tell your supervisor that this service is amazing and we are so thankful we didn't have to drive all the way to Marseille?" He said, "I am the supervisor! It was my idea."

The plumber comes tomorrow to start work on the front apartment. I've been doing yet more electricity (there's always so much to do) and getting the shower area ready for waterproofing membrane. Eric nailed in replacement boards on the wooden ceiling. Bit by bit, we're rebuilding it.

Dio dissected a chicken heart at school and was thoroughly grossed out. Dissection is a rite of passage. I still vividly remember dissecting a frog.

Zari is having her own gross-out moment about the floral prairie dresses that are all the rage right now. "It's like an old person's wallpaper!"

Yes, I lived through floral prairie dresses in the 1980s. I don't care to repeat it.
